Regulator issues report into structural failure of mining excavator

The Resources Regulator has issued an investigation information release following a dangerous incident involving a major structural separation of superstructure from the track frame of a hydraulic mining excavator while it was in operation.

The incident occurred at a NSW open-cut mine on 15 May, 2026.

The Regulator has commenced an investigation to determine the cause and circumstances of the incident. A report will be published when the investigation is concluded.
