Addressing the risk: The new approach for vehicle safety in surface mining

The mining industry across NSW has united to deliver a strong safety message to help reduce adverse vehicle interactions at mine sites.

The Resources Regulator has released a new video, featuring industry representatives to accompany its Technical Reference Guide. 

The Technical Reference Guide Roads or other vehicle operating areas principal hazard management plan for surface mining operations was developed following extensive consultation with industry and provides practical strategies for identifying and controlling vehicle-related risks in surface mining environments. 

The Technical Reference Guide uses a layered approach to achieving safe operating states for mobile plant. From site design to machinery intervention, the guide provides a comprehensive layered approach to vehicle hazard identification, assessment and control.
