2020 exemption regarding use of electrical cables in hazardous zones has been revoked

The Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Exemption (Use of Cables in Hazardous Zones) 2020 has been revoked by the Resources Regulator on 14 October 2022.

The Exemption was a class exemption made by the Resources Regulator on its own initiative and applied specifically to the use of cables in a hazardous zone in an underground coal mine.  This exemption has been revoked as the conditions of the exemption have now been written into section 83 of the Work Health and Safety (Mines and Petroleum Sites) Regulations 2022.

A copy of the revocation of the exemption as published in the Government Gazette can be found here (PDF, 48.75 KB)
