Implementation Webinar on New Standard Rehabilitation Conditions for Small Mines
The NSW Government has introduced new standard rehabilitation and reporting conditions on mining leases to set clear, achievable and enforceable requirements for rehabilitation across mine sites in NSW. These conditions are set out in Schedule 8A of the Mining Regulation 2016. The new conditions will apply to small mines from 2 July 2023.
A small mine is defined as one which does not require an environment protection licence under the Protection of the Environment Operations Act 1997.
To assist industry to transition and comply with the new requirements, the Resources Regulator will be facilitating a webinar on Wednesday 22 November between 12 to 2pm.
The purpose of the webinar is to:
- Provide an overview of the rehabilitation reforms for small mines
- Confirm the transitional arrangements for small mines for the submission of documents
- Provide a demonstration of the on-line forms on the Resources Regulator portal that are to be used for the submission of notifications and documents required under the Regulation.
