Silica work register requirements commence on 1 October 2025

The new requirement for all persons conducting a business or undertaking (PCBU) to register workers carrying out a high risk crystalline silica substance process under the Work Health and Safety Regulation 2017 will commence on 1 October 2025. This requirement applies to all metal mines and quarries in NSW. Mine operators and PCBUs can commence entering worker details from 1 October 2025 with SafeWork NSW.

PCBUs that are covered by “Coal Services Order 43 Health Surveillance” are exempt from the requirement and do not need to comply.
