Survey and Drafting Directions for Mine Surveyors (NSW Coal)

These directions below are to be followed by all mining surveyors in all open cut and underground operations. Issued by the Surveyor General on the advice of the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information, they provide for the hardcopy and digital recording, storage and preparation of the Mine Workings Plan and Mine Record Tracing.

These directions are issued by the Surveyor-General on the advice of the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information pursuant to clause 4 of the Surveying and Spatial Information Regulation 2006.

They are to be followed by all Registered Mining Surveyors in all metalliferous and extractive open cut and underground operations as per Clause 95 of the Mine Health and Safety Regulation 2007:

95 Application of Division

This Division applies to:
(a) a mine at which 20 or more persons are working, and
(b) a mine at which less than 20 persons are working, if the mine is a Gazetted mine for the purposes of this Division.

These Directions are to be used in the compilation of a Mine Workings Plan for each mining operation.

A Mine Workings Plan consists of any number of sheets showing the entire workings of a mine in plan or section. Each sheet will represent a part or whole of one or more mining horizons or an area of the mining or quarrying operation shown in plan. The Mine Workings Plan as defined in these Directions include any cross-section or longitudinal section sheets used.

Other plans may be required as set out in Section 5 of these Directions.
