Mine Safety

Mining qualifications and competence

The Department aims to provide a process and framework for the authorisation of equipment, competencies, procedures and management systems to satisfy legislative requirements and responsibilities.

Exams for mine staff seeking Certificates of Competence are held at various times throughout the year, with cut-off dates for applications around two months before the exam.

For further information on authorisation for mining competencies, contact the Mining Industry Competencies Unit, tollfree, on 1300 736 122.
