NSW Trade & Investment lifted a production suspension order at the Werris Creek Open Cut Coal Mine, operated by Whitehaven Coal Ltd, near Tamworth, which has seen resumption of normal operations.

The mine was issued a notice to suspend operations on December 16, 2011.

Production resumed on December 20, 2011, after mine operators complied with the prohibition notice completing a full review of safety management at the mine, including full consultation with the workforce
