Changes to newspaper advertising timeframes

Mining leases

In accordance with the requirements of section 51A of the Mining Act 1992, and clause 25 of the Mining Regulation 2010, a mining lease applicant must give notice of the mining lease application to be published in a newspaper circulating generally in the State of NSW and in at least one newspaper circulating in the locality of the proposed mining lease area within 45 days from the receipt of confirmation of the application from the Director-General.

Assessment leases

In accordance with section 33A of the Mining Act 1992, and clause 21 of the Mining Regulation 2010, an assessment lease applicant must give notice of the assessment lease application to be published in a newspaper circulating generally in the State of NSW and in at least one newspaper circulating in the locality of the proposed assessment lease area within 45 days from the receipt of confirmation of the application from the Director-General.

Exploration licences

In accordance with the requirements of section 13A of the Mining Act 1992, and clause 15 of the Mining Regulation 2010, an exploration licence applicant must give notice of the exploration licence application to be published in a newspaper circulating generally in the State of NSW and in at least one newspaper circulating in the locality of the proposed exploration area within 45 days (previously this was not a statutory requirement and there was no time limit) from the receipt of confirmation of the application from the Director-General.
