THE FIRST GEOLOGICAL PLAN (non-original)
Plan Showing the Situation of Gold - 1823
Notes:
1. This geological plan was recorded to be drawn in 1823 by Mr Assistant Surveyor James McBrien based on the notes in the redrawn plot by E Gerald in 1863. However, the only thing mentioned that is related to geology is that "At this place I found numerous particles of gold in the sand in the hills convenient to the River" and it is not original. The first original geological plan in State Archive was published in 1851.
2. This is the first non-original geological plan kept in the State Archive. However, a geological plan like this could be drawn anytime after the establishment of the Colony in 1788.
