Geospatial Information
The work of the Geospatial Information team centres on the production of maps and graphics. This work is highly technical and requires skills with a range of software types, databases and GIS systems as well as artistic and organisational talents.
Responsibilities and Projects
Map production
- Work with geoscience teams and printing agents to produce maps from hardcopy and digital field data
- Initiate new maps from the geodatabase to fill needs
- Provide a seamless geological map of NSW and maintain upgrades
- Research technology to maintain state-of-the art job tracking and production systems
- Provide Print on Demand maps of current and out-of-print geological maps
- Provide on-line map, datasets and catalogue downloads
DVD/CD ROM Data Package Production
- Compile geoscience data into regional packages for commercial use
GIS Applications
- Produce digital geological layers to be used in conjunction with GoogleEarth™ & PDF outputs
- Produce 3d visualisation from geoscientific GIS data
Geodatabase, ArcGIS Server implementation
- Maintain all the different map attributes (GIS data) in a geodatabase
- Use the full extent of the ArcGIS Server for internal and external applications
Graphics Preparation
- Create graphics and layout templates for publications, posters, brochures and multimedia
Products and Promotions
- The team is responsible for product output, inventory and promotions
